Crottin de Chavignol is a French goat’s-milk cheese.

It originates from the Berry village of Chavignol, located in the department of Cher, the Centre-Val de Loire region, and the natural region of the Sancerrois.

It has held an appellation d’origine contrôlée (AOC) since 1976 and an appellation d’origine protégée (AOP) since 1996.

The Crottin de Chavignol Syndicate is an association whose members include AOP farmers and cheesemakers.

Its best consumption period runs from April to November
